Why Do You Need To Use Video?
Why do you need video? You could always write a paragraph to tell people about what you do. You could always post a picture gallery of the event you just put on. Video production can be expensive, so why should you have it?
Well, picture the scene. You’ve found out that you’re going to be a parent for the first time. It’s the baby’s first scan, and the sonographer says to you “Your baby has a heartbeat.” Amazing. Far more amazing though, is when she turns the screen to you and you can actually see it beating with your own eyes. You can see and hear that incredible thing happening, and there is no substitute for that. It’s the same with anything – you can tell someone your business is great at what it does. You can shout from the rooftops about how awesome your sport is. But unless people can actually see and hear it for themselves, they will never understand.
Therefore, video is perhaps the best way to make people understand what you’re trying to tell them. There’s so much more to it than that though…
- Video content is king when it comes to Social Media. Posts with video attract more than three times as many inbound links as any other posts. If you need proof, consider this – last year, the number of video posts from brands on Facebook more than quadrupled over the previous year. This year, it looks set to be a similar figure again.
- You can gain huge exposure and create a better image for yourself. Video gives you the chance to show people something in a creative way, and your audience is MASSIVE. Like, absolutely vast. Inconceivably huge. It makes the viewership of even the biggest TV stations seem microscopic. On YouTube alone, a staggering 6 BILLION hours of video are viewed monthly by over a billion unique visitors.
- It makes you look good. This might sound like a moot point, but it’s really important. Having video on your website makes it look more eyecatching, makes it rank better on search engines like Google, and is proven to keep people on your site for longer.
- Humanise yourself. If you’re a business, no offence but you are probably seen as a bit stiff. An “About Us” page on your website can be as well written as can be, but the fact is that 60 seconds of good video on your homepage will have far, far more impact and convey more clearly not just what you do, but who you are. Therein lies the key in the power of video for businesses. It’s your opportunity to humanise your business. Show people what you’re all about, make them realise that your business has a personality, and that they like it. As the old saying goes, people buy from people… and the stats don’t lie. 64% of consumers say they are more likely to buy a product or service after watching a video about it.
Those are just a few of the reason why video is so important it today’s world. We could talk on this subject for the rest of time – it’s what we love! If you’d like to know more, get in touch – we’d love to tell you more.
